Impacts

Roadways will be snow-covered and slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions ...

A Winter Weather advisory means that periods of snow and blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

Forecast

Wind chills are still dangerous, holding steady or getting worse through the afternoon. Winds are picking up SW 15-25 mph gusting 30-40 mph at times this afternoon. So, a Wind Chill advisory will continue through 4 p.m. Friday. It will feel like minus 15 to minus 30 degrees, making frostbite and hypothermia major health concerns. We will also see blowing snow on some of the roadways so be smart and safe today. That includes checking on your neighbors and pets.

Snow will move into the Thumb region and our far northern counties later this afternoon. But, we don’t expect to see snow going full tilt here until 8 p.m. Snow will be heavier in our northern and eastern counties with a few dry pockets filling in on the western half of SE Michigan.

We will wake up with a couple of inches of fresh snow with rising temps early Saturday. West of Highway 23 0-2 inches and east of Highway 23 will see 2-4 inches possibly. The warmest day ahead is Saturday in the 20s, but it will dropping in the early afternoon. With additional light snow showers on and off tomorrow, the winds will keep whipping WSW 10-20 mph.

WATCH: Keeping pets safe from cold

There’s more snow Sunday by mid to late morning. Again, we get another 2-3 inches of fresh snow.
