Tornado watch canceled, high wind warning in effect

A tornado watch has been posted for more than half of Michigan's 83 counties, from Lake Michigan in the west to the state's most populous counties in the east.


After a stormy Sunday, all severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches have been canceled for metro Detroit.

Only a high wind warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Monday.

The following counties are under the wind warning: Lapeer, Livingston, Washtenaw, Macomb, Wayne, St. Clair, Oakland, Monroe, Genesee.

Forecast into Monday

The cold front passes and leaves the Detroit area late Sunday night.

When it completely leaves, it will remain windy and become drier as temperatures plummet. The mercury will drop to about 40 degrees by Monday morning. Temps will stay in the mid 40s Monday afternoon even with mostly sunny skies. More sunshine returns mid-week. Nighttime and morning lows will be near freezing or lower. Daytime highs will be near 45 degrees.
