Snow showers will taper off
Updated On: Feb 05 2014 11:41:03 AM EST
Our Winter Weather Advisory continues until noon today and it covers all of SE Michigan. That means heavy snow, blowing snow, and cold temps are making the roads very difficult and you are advised to only travel if necessary today.
We are seeing a few holes in the radar early in the morning but heavy snow will be filling in and moving through all morning.
Most of the snow is sticking to the roads and the winds are gusting at times over 20 mph leading to blowing snow on the roads. Another 2-5” of snow can be expected through noon and that’s when we expect the moderate and heavy snow to become a bit lighter.
Still, we’ll have snow showers through the afternoon keeping conditions very difficult. Highs in the mid 20s today but the winds from the North 10-20 mph will bring wind chills into the single digits and teens.
An arctic blast is behind the snow and will keep things chilly starting Thursday and hanging with us through Friday. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds to end the work and school week with highs in the mid teens and lows near zero.
There is a weak cold front dropping through tomorrow with scattered, light snow showers possible and wind chilly conditions feeling subzero all day. Friday will start around or below zero and then only warm into the low teens with cold sunshine.
