Steamy September day with changes coming

Big changes in on the way

DETROIT – Michigan weather is always changing, and we have a big change on the way.

It won't be today or even for most of tomorrow.

But what happens today and tomorrow will be a big part of the weekend change.

This morning is fairly mild with upper 50s and low 60s and dry conditions.

Radar shows a few showers crossing over Lake Michigan, but most of that wet weather will dry up crossing land in Western Lower Michigan.

So, look for partly cloudy skies as temps and humidity start to creep up.

Highs today hit the mid to upper 80s feeling a bit warmer and just slightly muggy.

We may see a few isolated showers around Metro Detroit as the UP experiences stormy weather all day.

Warm winds will be increasing this afternoon SW 5-15 mph.

There's a chance we reach 90 degrees Friday depending on midday sunshine.

Tomorrow will bring a bump in temps and humidity with 89 degrees and breezy conditions.

Storm chances are slight in the early afternoon, but much greater into the late afternoon and evening.

A strong cold front will be approaching the area late tomorrow and we could see a few strong to severe storms and localized heavy rain.

The main window for the stormy weather is between 4pm and 8pm with a few straggling showers and storms into the late evening and possibly into early Saturday.

That front will bring noticeably cooler air into Metro Detroit this weekend.

Other than an early morning shower Saturday, the weekend looks dry and cooler.

Lows will be in the 50s while highs may only hit low 70s.
