Snow and ice could create tricky travel

Forecast for Thursday, January 29, 2015

DETROIT – It is going to be a very tricky morning on the roads and in trying to get this forecast spot on today.

We'll have a wave between 5-7am which will be mainly snow and freezing rain across the SE Lower Michigan and the worst threat would be freezing rain or ice which can be extremely dangerous.

There are Travel Advisories to our west for tomorrow due to the threat of ice on the roads.

And, although it won't last all morning, that ice can linger through the morning drive as snow or rain would be a better alternative.

Some areas, especially in our northern counties, could see a quick inch of snow on the ground very early this morning. We should see dryer conditions later this morning and then expect another wave of precipitation through the afternoon.

As high temps hit the mid 30s or warmer, light snow, sleet, and rain are all possible again this afternoon. The evening commute may be impacted, but the storm will be moving east by 4 or 5pm.

We'll get back to chilly temps Friday and Saturday but both days are dry. We will only manage highs tomorrow in the teens with a mix of clouds and cold sunshine. Saturday, with warmer winds, we'll see  low and mid 20s with increasing clouds.

Super Bowl Sunday could be snowy with an inch or two possible to end the weekend. But our models are split on which direction this storm coming out of the desert southwest will head. Stay tuned! Get your complete 7 Day forecast on clickondetroit.com and on the Weather links:
