Single-digit start Thursday as temperatures look to warm-up

Sun could bring 30 degree temperatures to some neighborhoods

DETROIT – It's a battle between brilliant sunshine and pesky winds today.

The sun is great for the soul, but those winds make it feel a bit cooler than we'd like. Highs in the upper 20s this afternoon will feel a bit cooler with winds E 5-15 mph. All things considered (by that I mean a tough winter we'd like to leave in the rearview mirror) it's going to be a great Thursday afternoon.

Milder weather is showing signs of returning to Pure Michigan tomorrow. We will see temps around 40 degrees by Friday afternoon with mostly sunny skies through the early afternoon. Highs clouds stream into the area through the late afternoon. The winds are shifting and will be blowing in from the SSW 5-12 mph tapping into a much nicer air mass moving forward Still 40 and possibly warmer will be a great way to end the work and school week.

The weekend will be a bit cooler in the mid 30s with slightly warmer air Saturday than Sunday. We will see light snow showers late Saturday morning with less than 1" of fresh snow likely. Sunday will be dry before we warm a bit again next week.
