Flood watch in effect this weekend for some parts of Metro Detroit

Some of southeast Michigan will be under a flood watch this weekend.

The National Weather Service says a flood watch will be in effect Saturday morning through Sunday for Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee counties.

Rain moving through, combined with snow melting and ice blocking drains, will likely produce deep ground water in those areas.

Forecast for metro Detroit:

Most will see rain showers Friday but there are Winter Weather Advisories up north.

That means Lapeer, Port Huron, and points north will see some freezing rain, snow, and rain.

Another major development for Saturday afternoon into Sunday.

We will see heavier rain showers on Saturday afternoon or evening and by Sunday morning, our snow cover will be completely gone.

Saturday night will be tricky and potentially very dangerous.

We will see more widespread freezing rain and ice around SE Michigan which is very concerning for anyone out driving late Saturday.

On Sunday, rain and possibly ice will be the story for the first half of the day.

But cold air will rush in bringing a chance for snow into the last hours of the weekend.

It all depends on the placement of a storm that hasn’t even developed yet so we have to wait and see.

And, if you’re looking for a White Christmas… it looks like we have a few chance for light snow next week with more snow is coming back late on Christmas Day.

Stay tuned for that. You’ll find the latest radar images, wind chilly neighborhood temps, and an early look into your weekend forecast on the new 4Casters app (it’s free!) in your app store.
