Local 4Casters say lots of sunshine before cold front moves in

DETROIT – What a beautiful Friday!

Sunshine helps us warm to near 40 degrees today with light winds. Highs clouds stream into the area later this afternoon but it will be mostly sunny most of the day.

The winds are shifting and will be blowing in from the SSW 5-12 bringing in a brief warm up, but it won't last forever. A cold front is on the way overnight which brings slightly cooler temps this weekend.

A weak snow maker will bring scattered Saturday morning snow of less than an to start the weekend. Light snow and possibly some freezing drizzle last only until noon or earlier as the skies give way to partly cloudy conditions for most of the afternoon. We should hit a high in the mid 30s tomorrow. Sunday will be dry and cool with highs in the low to mid 30s before we warm a bit again next week.

Monday, we are back to 40 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. There's a pretty big storm on the move late Monday and Tuesday but most of it will be south of Michigan. Still, on the northern fringes of this storm we could get a couple of inches of snow starting later on Tuesday into Wednesday.
