Local 4Casters: Rain, cold front heading toward metro Detroit

DETROIT – Showers have been advancing through the state and will roll into southeast Michigan after sunset Thursday. Expect rain mainly from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Even though we've picked up some lightning strikes north of us earlier in the day, I think this will be just rain by the time it gets to metro Detroit. We may see a few light sprinkles after 2 a.m. through the daylight hours on Friday morning. Lows Thursday night will drop into the mid 50s.

On Friday, other than a few of those early light sprinkles, we'll be dry and mostly cloudy through early afternoon. Then, some late clearing will bring a few rays of sunshine, but it won't be enough to bring back the 70s. Highs Friday will stay in the low-to-mid 60s.

The weekend ahead is looking dry and sun-filled. Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Saturday, in the low 60s. Highs return to 70 degrees on Sunday.

Columbus Day, Monday, will bring another shot at rain and cooler air behind it. Monday's highs will be in the low 70s. Temperatures return to the 60s for highs starting on Tuesday.
