Lake Orion schools close early due to power outages

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Lake Orion Community School are closing early Monday due to power outages.

The school district says a transformer blew out on Heights Rods, causing "massive power outages at our schools."

Full release from Lake Orion schools:

A transformer blew out on Heights Road causing massive power outages at our schools. All students are safe in their respective schools; however, we will need to send them home. We will use our half day dismissal schedule for all schools starting with the middle schools, high school/CERC and then the elementary schools. (The older children will be sent home first so that they may assist with child care, if appropriate.)

Middle schools will dismiss at 10:25 a.m.
High school at 10:38 a.m.
Pine Tree, Paint Creek, Weber - 11:25 a.m.
Orion Oaks, Carpenter, Stadium - 12 p.m.

School age child care at elementary schools and early child program at CERC, Paint Creek and Orion Oaks will be closed.

Parents may want to pick up their students prior to this schedule.
