Grab your shovels: Winter Weather Advisory Tuesday

Published On: Feb 04 2014 11:39:31 AM EST

Local 4 meteorologist Brandon Roux has the forecast.

A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect this evening, so enjoy the rest of your cloudy and calm Tuesday. Highs in the mid 20s with overcast skies and light winds for the rest of the day. The Advisory is for Wayne, Washtenaw, Lenawee, and Monroe counties 7pm Tuesday until noon Wednesday. The snow starts around 7 or 8pm and will bring the heaviest snow closest to the Ohio border. We will see a quick 2-3” later tonight and early overnight.

More moderate to heavy, wet snow will be with us all morning Wednesday. Steady snow should last through the morning commute and start to lighten up by around 10am. We’ll still have scattered lighter snow through the afternoon Wednesday. The latest snow total is unchanged from previous updates bringing 3-6” of fresh snow total by tomorrow midday. Monroe and Adrian may see 6-8” in spots and areas north of M 59 may only get 2-3” total.. This will be a wet snow that is great for the kids but hard on those of us shoveling. Be careful! Temps tomorrow will be in the mid 20s most of the day cooling off through the afternoon as the cool winds start cranking N 10-20 mph.

An arctic blast is behind the snow and will keep things chilly starting Thursday and hanging with us through Friday. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds to end the work and school week with highs in the mid teens and lows near zero.
