DETROIT – It will be cloudy with periodic breaks Monday night.
Some light snow showers are possible early Monday evening, then those will subside and a few more will develop later Monday night. The best chance for any sustained light snow will be south of Michigan in northern Indiana and Ohio. Lows near 9 degrees. West wind decreasing to 5 to 10 mph.
Mostly cloudy and breezy on Tuesday with scattered light snow showers (most numerous during the afternoon). Highs near 24. Southwest wind at 12 to 18 mph.
Partly cloudy and breezy on Wednesday, with sunrise temperatures around 4, and an afternoon high near 13 (get used to these temperatures).
Mostly cloudy and windy on Thursday with an occasional light snow shower. The day will start with temperatures near 4, and once again only see highs around 13.
Friday will start mostly sunny, but below zero (around -4 in the bigger cities, and colder in rural areas), with afternoon highs again only near 13 as clouds increase through the day. We could see some light snow Friday night.
Any lingering snow showers should end first thing Saturday, as another surge of Arctic air moves into the area. The day will again start below zero (around -2), and rise to a high near 14. It's going to be a breezy day, which certainly won't help things.
Sunday starts well below zero (-5 in the bigger cities, and colder in rural areas), and clouds will increase through the day. Highs near 12.
A chance of snow developing late Sunday night and continuing into Monday.
**Note: There is high uncertainty about the late Sunday night / Monday snow chance.**
Sunday night's computer models gave us more of a glancing blow. But Monday afternoon's models bring it farther north -- the heaviest snow still projected to stay south of Michigan, but some of us (best chance is south of Detroit) may get enough to shovel and plow. Any farther northward jog in the storm path would bring the significant snow into play for us. I'm not trying to scare you...just giving you this heads up in case you need to start thinking ahead with some alternate plans.
