Forecast: More rain coming Friday in metro Detroit

But there is a change in the weekend forecast!

DETROIT – Partly cloudy skies overall tonight, with lows in the upper 50s to near 60 (but much cooler up in the Thumb, where temps may drop all the way down to near 50).

We may also see some areas of fog develop later tonight as well. Northeast wind at 2 to 5 mph.

TGIF! Our Friday will start dry with some sunshine, so take the shades when you head off to work. However, clouds will move in by early afternoon, and rain will follow -- take your umbrella in case you'll be outside later in the day.

Highs in the low to mid 70s, depending upon how quickly our skies cloud over. East wind at 5 to 10 mph (once again proving the old adage that "an east wind is an ill wind"). Rain reigns Friday night, with lows in the mid to upper 50s.

Weekend forecast:

If you've been following my forecast all week long, I've conveyed how uncertain the weather pattern was going to be heading into the weekend. Today computer models are starting to show just enough dry air over southern Michigan to keep us dry. If this indeed pans out, then it'll be our 5th nice weekend in a row! But who's counting?

Although we could start the day Saturday with some clouds, skies should become partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 70s will make it a very comfortable day. Partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows near 60.

Then partly cloudy Sunday into Sunday night, with highs near 80, and lows Sunday night in the low to mid 60s.

Monday is Fireworks day, and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. It's STILL way too early to get specific as to the timing and geographic distribution, as the computer models vary wildly in their projections. I'm just not seeing any type of consensus developing, so stay tuned -- I'll keep you updated on the Fireworks forecast (follow me on Twitter @PaulGrossLocal4 -- sometimes I only have time to tweet quick updates).

And remember that the weather is never a problem if you watch Local 4's exclusive coverage! Highs Monday in the low 80s, with temperatures Monday evening in the 70s.

The way things are shaping up right now, I think there's a pretty good chance for some rain on Tuesday (hopefully, this holds off until after Monday evening's fireworks).
