Forecast: More heat with severe storm threat Wednesday in Metro Detroit

Wednesday could be wild weather day in Detroit area

DETROIT – After starting the day in the mid 70s, hot and humid conditions will continue Wednesday.

Temperatures will soar into the mid-to-upper 80s by noon, and reach highs in the low to mid 90s. The humidity will make it feel marginally hotter than what the thermometer reads, but even a few degrees makes a difference when it's this hot.

The next item to contend with is an approaching cold front and, as we've learned over the years, that transition zone can be quite active when it's this hot.  I think the first two-thirds of the day will be dry, but thunderstorms should start popping up across the heart of the metro area by mid-to-late afternoon.

Strong to severe storms are possible, with damaging wind being the biggest threat at this point.  Torrential downpours are also possible.

Cooler air will start streaming in on Thursday and, by Friday, we'll barely make it to a high around 60!  So get ready for some big-time change. You'll go from complaining about the heat to complaining about the chilly weather in just two days!
