Cloudy overnight, chance of morning rain

Morning temps in the 40s

DETROIT – Mild temperatures aren't going anywhere soon, but dry conditions will be slipping out the back door. An increasingly wet start to the holiday weekend is just around the corner.

Overnight, clouds will continue to increase. Most of us will stay dry. But there will be a few light showers around toward dawn. These should be mainly north of Detroit. Lows won't be nearly as chilly as last night, dipping only to the mid 40s.

Then for Thanksgiving Day, expect cloudy skies and very mild temperatures. Morning temperatures will be in the 40s. I'm pretty confident in that part of the forecast. The uncertainty is when and where the rain will show up. As of right now, there will be a few light showers around, but the best chance will be from M-59 north. But it won't take much to bring those showers farther south. So make sure you wake up with Brandon and the Local 4 News Today crew tomorrow morning before you head downtown for the parade.

For the afternoon hours on Turkey Day, it looks like we'll get a break from any showers. Highs will hit the mid-to-upper 50s about the time Lions fans are celebrating their third win in a row. Winds will be breezy, though, around 10-20 mph.

Black Friday looks VERY wet. The biggest slug of rain should hold off until around sunrise. But once the rain starts, it will be pretty steady through the morning, then becoming scattered and lighter in the afternoon. Highs will still hit the mid 50s, but colder air will quickly rush in during the evening. So any moisture lingering after sunset could show up as a few snowflakes. But no accumulation is expected.

Temperatures cool down to near normal for Saturday and beyond.  All that's in the 10 Day Forecast.
