Chilly start to St. Patrick's Day in SE Michigan

Wind chills at or below zero in some areas

DETROIT – It is a chilly start for all of us this morning with wind chills at or below zero under clear skies. Morning temps are in the single digits in most of SE Michigan and wind chills will be subzero through 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Our chilly start will lead to a cooler than average afternoon as highs reach near 30 degrees today with winds NE 5-10 mph under a mix of sun and clouds.

Milder air is working in for the rest of the week. Tuesday's low will be near 20 degrees in Detroit and a bit cooler in the suburbs. Afternoon highs will get into the low and mid 40s at least tomorrow feeling very nice with calm winds SSE 5-10 mph. We will see partly cloudy skies most of the day with increasing clouds late in the day. We are watching a storm moving in our direction late Tuesday, but the wet weather will likely hold off until Wednesday.

Expect mostly rain on Wednesday as mild temps will range between mid 30s for lows and upper 40s for afternoon highs. We could see a bit of light snow mixing in with the light rain Wednesday, but no accumulation is expected.

We are only 3" of new snow from making it the snowiest season ever in Detroit. We have a chance for a couple of inches late Friday and more chances next week. Get the latest radar images, and your all-important week ahead forecast information on clickondetroit.com.
