Below average temps next few days in metro Detroit

Showers remain in forecast, too

DETROIT – As you read today's forecast, keep in mind that normal highs are near 70.

We'll be nowhere near normal through the weekend, but then neither am I. Sorry ...

Cloudy with some breaks in the overcast tonight, and lows reaching the upper 30s. As long as our skies don't clear out completely and the wind doesn't go completely calm (neither of which I expect at this point), frost won't be an issue. West wind at 5 to 10 mph.

Friday forecast:

We should have a dry start to our Friday which means, thankfully, a dry morning rush hour. Partly cloudy skies mean that you may even need the shades on your way to work! However, a few light showers are possible by late afternoon. Not everybody will necessarily get one, but we're all at risk. Highs in the mid 50s, with a northwest wind at 5 to 10 mph. Mostly cloudy Friday night, with lows near 40.

Saturday forecast:

Mostly cloudy with afternoon showers likely on Saturday. Highs in the mid 50s. Becoming partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the upper 30s.

Sunday forecast:

Partly cloudy and a little warmer on Sunday, with highs near 60. Becoming mostly clear Sunday night, with lows in the low 40s.

Mostly sunny on Monday, with highs in the mid 60s. Mostly clear Monday night, with lows in the mid 40s.

Increasing clouds ahead of an approaching warm front on Tuesday. Highs in the mid to upper 60s. Note: some of my computer models accelerate the warm front and actually bring showers into the area during the day, but right now I think the activity will hold off until Tuesday night.

Showers and thunderstorms likely on Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
