Rochester roadblock: A Main Street mess
Updated On: May 15 2012 09:36:25 AM EDT
On Tuesday, the Main Street Makeover in Rochester moved into the next phase with the closure of Main Street, north of Second and south of University.
Second and University will remain open, while Third and Fourth will be closed to traffic.
Pedestrian crossings will only be available at Second and University.
Sidewalks will continue to be open, and access from the alleys will be maintained for convenient access for our customers.
This phase of construction will be completed by late July.
The Main Street Makeover is a joint effort of the Michigan Department of Transportation(MDOT), the City of Rochester and the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The purpose of the project is to reconstruct Main Street from the Clinton River Bridge to the Paint Creek Bridge, improve water service to the area and to add street scape improvements to enhance the overall downtown experience.
