Ice floes melting in the Detroit River Monday.

More melting will occur under the gorgeous winter sun this week in Metro Detroit.

Monday afternoon was chilly and breezy, but temps will rise above freezing. Highs were in the middle 30s with a stiff southwest breeze, 14 to 24 mph.

Monday night will be fair with calmer winds and lows in the 20s. Re-freezing will take place in isolated spots for people trying to walk or drive Tuesday morning.

The big January thaw continues the rest of the week.  Tuesday and Wednesday will have more blue skies and temps near 40 thanks to that southwesterly wind.

Motown's next chance of precipitation will be in the form of rain but not until Thursday night and Friday.  Temps will be in the middle and upper 40s by the end of the work-week.
