DETROIT -

Detroit and most of Southeast Michigan is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 11am, Tuesday.  Visibility may get as low a quarter of a mile or an eighth of a mile or less with lows near 40.  Commuters will have a difficult time spotting highway exits, pedestrians and students walking to school.

Southwesterly winds at 12 to 18 mph will blow warmer air in boosting afternoon highs into the middle and upper 50s.  Tuesday's record high is nearly 100 years old at 58 degrees set in 1914.  Also, there is a chance of rain showers and a few thunderstorms.  This has prompted a Flood Watch to go into effect Tuesday evening through Wednesday.

Wednesday will have an approaching cold front with falling temperatures and heavy downpours possible.  Umbrellas will be needed again as temps fall from the 50s in the morning into the 30s by the afternoon and evening.  Flood concerns remain just ahead of the front.  Once temperatures plummet, scattered snow showers are possible Wednesday night.  It remains windy, too.

The temperature roller coaster continues downhill into the 20s on Thursday and in the teens Friday.  Near-zero wind chills return just before the weekend with blustery conditions.

Saturday caps off this wild week of weather with temps below freezing and a chance of snow.  Sunday stays cold, but skies will become partly sunny.
