ROMULUS, Mich. -

No matter the destination, travelers at Detroit Metro Airport told Local 4 they do not mind the sometimes treacherous trek and holiday travel headaches.

They just want to see their families.

"I'm really excited. I haven't been home in six months. So excited to be back," said Laren Vanoss.

Joe and Cordell Hastings were flying out of DTW on Tuesday. They got their boarding passes in minutes without having to hurry and put up with extra hassles.

So fair it's been easy. We haven't encountered any major problems and looks like we're leaving at a good time," said Joe Hastings. "Been pretty smooth so far."

Airline officials said they expect to be busier on Wednesday. Air travel is actually down 3 percent this Thanksgiving week, mainly due to the price of flights and airlines cutting the number of them, according to AAA.

"I'd rather just deal with the headache and go home versus not travel," said one traveler.

There were no reports of delays Tuesday at DTW.
