Tattoo artists can play an important role in breast reconstruction. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), tattoo artists can achieve better results than surgeons when it comes to creating the nipple and areola.

According to ASPS surgeons at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, the three-dimensional tattoos created by tattoo artists have given women better results.

Tattoos of the nipples and areola have been used as part of breast reconstruction for a while, but previously the tattoos were typically given by a surgeon.

Doctors now realize that tattoo artists can achieve better, more realistic results for women, according to ASPS.
