DETROIT -

The Detroit Red Wings open the 2013 preseason Monday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh.

The puck drops at 7 p.m.

The Red Wings will showcase many of their young prospects including their 2013 20th overall draft pick Anthony Mantha. The 19-year-old left winger is expected to play on a line with Calle Jarnkrok and Jordin Tootoo on Monday night.

Detroit will take 19 players -- including just 13 regulars -- to Pittsburgh.

This is the first of eight preseason games the Red Wings will play before the regular season begins on Oct. 2 against the Buffalo Sabres at Joe Louis Arena.

The team will turn around on Tuesday to head to Chicago for their 2nd game of the preseason.
