ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland University Division I men's soccer team, headed by coach Eric Pogue, hosted an annual exhibition match Wednesday night against Saginaw Valley State University coach Cale Wassermann's top Division II soccer program to help prepare for the upcoming season.

Both squads had only a week together to train, condition and learn how to come together and work as a team prior to this match.

The first half was scoreless with somewhat equal play by both teams, including eight shots on goal from both sides. Adjustments were made at half and OU came out dominating play in the 2nd.

The OU scoring began with junior midfielder/forward Matt Dudley (No. 9). Dudley ended up with a brace (two goals) for the night. His first goal came in the 69th minute, assisted by No. 10 Raphael Reynolds. Dudley's second goal was scored in the 75th minute, assisted by No. 2 Jacob VanderLaan.

Oakland's third goal was scored by No. 19 Austin Ricci in the 89th minute to top off the 3-0 win.

Oakland has a short recovery and adjustment time after this game as they head over to Western Michigan University for another exhibition game -- the David Warsen Memorial College Cup -- at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Saginaw Valley State will continue their preseason preparation at Madonna next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
