Michigan unranked, MSU No. 8 in preseason AP Poll

The AP top 25 preseason poll was released on Sunday, just 10 days before the first college football game of the year. Michigan State is No. 8 in the poll and Michigan did not make the top 25, receiving enough votes to fall in at No. 37.

Michigan was ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll last season before finishing 7-6 on the year. Michigan State was unranked heading into 2013.

This is the first time the Wolverines have been left out of the rankings since 2011, when they were unranked to start the season for the fourth year in a row. Michigan finished that season 11-2 and won a Sugar Bowl Championship.

Michigan State is ranked in the preseason top 10 after winning the Rose Bowl in January and finishing the season 13-1.
