DETROIT -

Tight end Brandon Pettigrew will remain a Detroit Lion.

The team announced Friday that the tight end has agreed on a four-year, $16 million deal with $8 million guaranteed to return to the team. Pettigrew reportedly drew interest from the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, but chose to stay in Detroit, where he was drafted four years ago.

Pettigrew appeared in 14 games for the Lions last season and posted 41 catches for 416 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, Pettigrew has 284 catches for 2,828 yards and 16 touchdowns in five seasons in Detroit.

On Wednesday, the Lions made their first free agent signing of the year with the addition of wide receiver Golden Tate. The team also resigned running back Joique Bell to a three-year deal.
