DETROIT -

Justin Kovacs' goal 2:01 into overtime gave Western Michigan a 1-0 win over Michigan Tech and the 49th Annual Great Lakes Invitational Tournament championship on Saturday night.

Lukas Hafner made 33 saves to record the shutout.

The tournament was played outdoors at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.

Kovacs jammed the puck in from the side of the net for his ninth goal.

Pheonix Copley made 30 saves for Michigan Tech.

The championship game and the earlier consolation game were both pushed back an hour due to sunshine affecting the ice.
