DETROIT -

Stan Van Gundy has agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons.

According to Local 4's Bernie Smilovitz, Van Grundy will make all the decisions for the franchise on and off the court.

Van Grundy has agreed in principle to coach the team and also be president of basketball operations.

Van Grundy is 54 years old and was the head coach with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.  He has never been in charge of the front office.

He's been given immense power by Pistons' owner Tom Gores who said he would do whatever it took to bring Van Grundy to Detroit.

His deal is for 5 years and is worth $35 million.
