Southern Hills Golf course: One of Florida’s finest

When playing a golf course from the forward tees. I often judge the equitability of their placement by my drive (when my game is on, of course) and where it lands in relationship to the other players.
If all of our drives are within the same distance to the next approach shot, then reaching the green in regulation to make par presents an exciting opportunity for everyone.
We golfers, particularly those who play from the forward tees, can appreciate Alice Dye for her influence on Pete’s design and positioning of tee complexes to make the game more manageable for women and players of all skill levels. While staying and playing in Florida over the winter months, I find myself returning to Southern Hills because it presents a true example of course design that plays fair from all tees and provides a challenge to all skill levels.
Depending on weather conditions the course will play differently on different days.
Golfers describe the course as unique, one-of-a-kind, and unusual. There aren't any railroad ties or waste areas at Southern Hills, but its length (over 7,500 yards from the tips), its small greens (just 3,500-4,500 square feet), devilishly deep and small bunkers and extensive mounding still make this new layout vintage Dye.
Golfweek has ranked the Pete Dye designed course among the nation’s top 50 Best New Courses and the top 100 Best Residential Courses. The 18-hole, par-72, private course offers elevations from 60 feet to nearly 250 feet- unlike any other courses in the area and is situated in the rolling hills of Brooksville, 45 minutes north of Tampa.
The incredible practice facility has its own 6-hole short-course and a large practice putting green and chipping area adjacent to the first tee. The Spa and Fitness Center, a 7,850 square-foot facility featuring state-of-the-art exercise equipment as well as private steam and massage rooms is open and staffed.
The spectacular antebellum-style Golf Clubhouse with full locker rooms, golf shop and four separate dining areas may even entice Scarlett O’Hara to take up the game!
Southern Hills is now offering you the opportunity to be a member for a day at this fabulous club.
Member Kathleen Griffiths, founder of the Select Group Inc, says "I decided to become a member of Southern Hills because it provides a fantastic venue to play challenging golf and entertain my clients."
