The Plymouth Whalers have opened the 2012 Ontario Hockey League playoffs with 2-straight losses to the Guelph Storm.

The 2nd-seeded Whalers were favored going into this opening round against the 7th-seeded Storm.

However, the Storm topped the Whalers 4-2 on Friday night in Plymouth and jumped to a 2-0 series lead on Sunday with a 5-3 win in Guelph. Sunday's game was tied 3-3 in third before the Storm pulled ahead.

Game 3 is Tuesday at Compuware Arena. It's a best of seven series.
