ANN ARBOR, Mich. -

In the 147th year of Michigan baseball, the Wolverines have a new leader in 1st-year head coach Erik Bakich.

The Maize and Blue open the Big Ten season on Friday at home against Minnesota. Last season, the Wolverines managed a meager 8-16 record in the conference and 22-34 overall.

The 2013 Michigan squad is experiencing growing pains early in the season with a 10-12 record but are showing a strong improvement from a year ago.
