DETROIT -

The Detroit Red Wings are not immune to the bad news around the National Hockey League.

The NHL lockout has forced the Wings to cancel September preseason games. The Red Wings say they are not planning any employee layoffs.

The NHL's regular season is scheduled to begin Oct. 11. However, the players union and league have yet to reach a collective bargaining agreement.

The lockout will continue until further notice.
