Lions Suh apologizes for stomp on Facebook

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh issued a statement Friday, apologizing for his actions during Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

Suh was ejected from the game for shoving Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith's head into the turf then stomping on him as Suh stood up. Officials immediately flagged the former first-round draft pick and kicked him out in the third quarter of the Lions' 27-15 loss on Thanksgiving Day.

"My reaction on Thursday was unacceptable," Suh said in a statement on his Facebook page. "I made a mistake, and have learned from it. I hope to direct the focus back to the task at hand - by winning."

This statement is a different tone than what Suh said to reporters after the game, claiming he was trying to keep his balance while stomping on Dietrich-Smith.

Detroit expressed its displeasure with Suh's action but didn't punish him with a fine or suspension.

The NFL will review the incident after the weekend and is expected to suspend Suh, who has been fined numerous times and even sat down with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to go over the league's rule book.
