Hometown hero throws first pitch on Tigers' opening day

The Detroit Tigers begin their 14th season at Comerica Park and their 113th year in Detroit next Friday at 1:08 p.m. as the Tigers host the New York Yankees.

Gates open at 10:30 a.m.

The pregame timetable includes the raising of the 2012 American League Champions Flag followed by the Military Recognition and Honor Guard introduction, featuring all five branches of the Armed Services.

A hometown hero and 1968 World Series Champion, Willie Horton, will throw the ceremonial first pitch, caught by Jim Price, his old teammate on the 1968 team and Tigers radio broadcaster.

At 1:01 p.m. Staff Sergeant Patrick Jefferson of the United States Air Force will deliver the game ball.
