DETROIT -

After missing seven games with a sprained left shoulder, forward Valtteri Filppula will return to the Detroit Red Wings lineup Wednesday night against the Calgary Flames.

Filppula had played in 19 games this season before injuring his shoulder Feb. 24 in a meeting with the Vancouver Canucks. Before the injury, he tallied 4 goals and 6 assists and a +3 rating.

Goalie Jimmy Howard and defenseman Ian White will be out of the lineup Wednesday night.

According to the team's website, Howard, who traveled with the team to western Canada on Tuesday, is ill and not available for Wednesday night's game in Calgary.

Backup Jonas Gustavsson will make his third start for the Red Wings.
