Detroit Lions safety Amari Spivey arrested, charged with assault

DETROIT -

Police in Middleton, Ct. are accusing Detroit Lions safety Amari Spivey of assault.

Spivey and his girlfriend are both charged with disorderly conduct and putting a child at risk during an argument.

Police say Spivey grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and she threw punches at the football player.

Their 2-year-old daughter was not hurt.

The Lions say they are gathering more information about the incident.
