Woman charged in Orion Township hit-and-run

25-year-old woman accused of hitting 35-year-old woman with Ford Focus on Heights Road

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 25-year-old Orion Township woman has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run March 6 on Heights Road which injured a 35-year-old mother who was walking home from her daughter's school bus stop.

Skyelar Melle is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Police say she was driving her 2003 Ford Focus when she hit Andrea Foy, who was walking in the roadway. Melle allegedly did not stop.

Foy still is recovering from her injuries which include a broken thumb and a broken orbital bone.
