DETROIT -

A tree fell on a woman Thursday while she was walking with her three children at Sparling Street and Desner Avenue on Detroit's east side.

The woman broke her leg. Witnesses say it took Detroit firefighters 20 minutes to get there.

The woman's fiance, Mark Williams, has the children while she is in the hospital.

Williams was with the woman and the children when the tree came down. He says EMS took too long to arrive.

"I was heated because ... it makes me upset because it could happen to me, to anyone's mother," Kaye Williams, a witness, said.

He knows her injuries could have been much worse.

"That's an act of God. Trust me, because I saw it," Mark Williams said.
