'White Trash Wednesday' theme comes under fire from parents at Washington elementary school

Muffin Top Monday, Tempt Me Tuesday and White Trash Wednesday?

Those were all themes suggested for a staff and teacher appreciation week at one elementary school in Washington.

KOMO News reports an email from the PTA at Sunnycrest Elementary in the Federal Way School District went out Monday to parents listing the themed days.

Pastries would be passed out for Muffin Top Monday, free massages on Tempt Me Tuesday and BBQ from Famous Dave’s would be served on garbage can lids for White Trash Wednesday.

School Principal Rudy Baca said he canceled the events after complaints from parents started coming in.

PTA President Amy Beckner declined to comment to KOMO News, but emailed out an apology to parents.

"The theme: Talkin' Trash was apparently found offensive to someone, and by no means is that ever our intent," the email reads.

"I want to take the opportunity to explain a few things and where the ideas came from," the email continues. "... as far as Wednesday, if you've ever been to (the barbeque restaurant) you know they serve, and cater on trash can lids."
