Wayne State University's Board of Governors is expected to approve a 9.3 percent tuition increase on Wednesday.

DETROIT -

Wayne State University's Board of Governors is expected to approve a 9.3 percent tuition increase on Wednesday.

The hike would cost the average student $900 more a year.

Wayne State will lose $500,000 in state funding because the increase is more than 3.75 percent.

However, the increase also would raise $10 million for the school.

Moreover, financial aid also is proposed to increase by 11 percent.

Last year, Wayne State's Board of Governors approved a 3.88 percent tuition increase.
