Police in Northfield Township are investigating several recent home burglaries.

NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

There is increased concern about a growing crime wave in one Washtenaw County community.

Police in Northfield Township are investigating several recent home burglaries.

Since Saturday, a house on Main Street and another on Beachway were broken into.

“You just don’t think that burglars are going to do this right in the middle of the day,” said the owner of a nearby daycare.

In the last four weeks, six homes have been broken into between Northfield Township and neighboring Whitmore Lake.

The burglars are mainly after jewelry and cash.

"If you see something out of the ordinary it probably is,” said Lt. Tim Greene, of the Northfield Township police. “Most important part that people have in their community is their neighbors. They know what’s going on around them."
