WATERFORD TWP., Mich. -

Three people are recovering in the hospital after a fire started in their Waterford Township home.

Waterford Fire Officials say they were dispatched to the 7100 block of Banks Street early Tuesday morning. When they arrived, two residents were outside the home but one was still inside. Firefighters were able to rescue the man and carry him outside to safety.

Firefighters quickly located the fire in the basement and were able to put out the flames. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.

All three residents were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
