Teen charged with causing hit-and-run, drunken driving

Christina Sparkman, 17, being charged as adult for March 4 incident in Macomb Township

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 17-year-old girl is being charged as an adult for allegedly being drunk when she hit a man and then took off in Macomb Township.

Christina Sparkman is accused of being behind the wheel of a Dodge Intrepid when she hit the 28-year-old victim near the intersection of 21 Mile and Garfield Road on March 4.

Police said Sparkman left the scene, but later turned herself in.

The victim was found in the roadway by a passerby. He remains in critical condition at a hospital in Detroit.

Sparkman has been charged with operating while intoxicated, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and as a minor who consumed alcohol.

Her bond has been set at $5,000.
