Demarius Reed was a 20-year-old communications major from Chicago and played six games this season, catching 15 passes for 185 yards.

Kristopher Pratt, one of two suspects accused in the murder of Eastern Michigan University football player Kristopher Pratt, is expected in court Friday for a preliminary exam.

20-year- old Pratt and 20-year-old Ed Thomas are charged with Demarius Reed's murder. Reed, 20, was a standout wide receiver on the university's football team.

Pratt was arrested Nov. 2 after allegedly stealing a pair of new tennis shoes from a man outside Eastland Mall. He is accused of firing a shot at the man, who was not hurt.

Harper Woods police arrested Pratt and recovered a 9 mm handgun. Court records show Michigan State Police have test-fired a handgun believed to be involved in Reed’s murder.
