Students demand firing of Michigan athletic director

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Calls for major change are growing on the campus of the University of Michigan.

At least 1,000 students gathered outside the home of the university's president, Mark S. Schlissel, Tuesday night chanting "protect our players" and demanding that athletic director, Dave Brandon, be fired.

It all stemmed from how the football team handled quarterback Shane Morris' concussion. He was put back in the game because of an apparent lack of communication over his injury.

This controversy is a hot topic on Twitter, with #firedavebrandon seen all over. Students said the controversy has not been handled in a way that represent Michigan.

Beyond Morris' actual injury, some people said they believe the public relations damage done by Brandon has caused a black eye for the university. And now the country is watching this play out, wondering how Michigan football will get back on track.

Schlissel released a statement Tuesday evening stating that he was disappointed, and apologized to Morris, his teammates and the Michigan family.
