Struggling family has $4K in home repair tools stolen

DETROIT – A young couple working their way through school, with a 2-year-old and a baby on the way, were ready to move into their home and start working on fixing it up but were devastated by what they found when they walked into the home the night before their big move-in.

The first thing Antoine Eaddy noticed when he got home was the front door standing open. When he went upstairs to the living room he found unopened paint cans and bathroom plumbing equipment gone.

In total the family says someone stole $4,000 dollars in materials.

They bought the home for $600 and wanted to move in and fix it up before their baby is due to arrive in August. Now they say it will take at least four to five months to save up to get back to where they were.

The only upgrade that wasn't stolen was their ceramic tiling, which Eaddy had just installed.

Eaddy is a military war vet who served in the Air Force for six years and just recently returned home.
