ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Crews are working to fix a sinkhole that's formed because of a water main break on 11 Mile Road just east of Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak.
The break happened Wednesday morning on the eastbound side of 11 Mile Road near South Pleasant Street. No one was hurt, but Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue said some cars were damaged.

The sinkhole encompasses the entire eastbound lane, and part of the west. Police are diverting eastbound traffic to the westbound lane.Â
Department of Recreation and Public Service Director Greg Rassel said crews expect to have all lanes of 11 Mile Road back open by Wednesday evening.
"It will be bumpy, but the road will be open," Rassel said. "We're used to this. The road most likely will be repaired with a cold patch until spring gets here. If it ever gets here."
