16 Mile Road just before Schoenherr

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -

Metro Parkway is back open after a serious injury accident closed the westbound lanes for several hours.

The accident happened around midnight on westbound 16 Mile Road just before Schoenherr in Sterling Heights.

Police say a Chevy Silverado rolled over when it collided with an SUV. The driver of the Silverado was transported to a local hospital with very serious injuries. No serious injuries were reported for the driver of the SUV. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

The westbound lanes remained closed for about six hours while police investigated the accident.
