Rochester Hills man shot as he pulled into his garage

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, a 61-year-old Rochester Hills man was shot during a robbery attempt in the 1500 block of Scenic Hollow.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, the man pulled into his garage and the attacker ran inside with the intent to rob him.

As the resident tried to get into the house, the suspect fired two shots hitting the 61-year-old in the hand.

Once inside the home, the victim called 9-1-1.

Deputies conducted a search with a K-9 unit but were not able to locate the suspect.

The victim was taken to McLaren Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

The suspect is described as a black male about 5'9" and between 220 to 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey colored ski mask with a pattern.

According to the Sheriff's department, he wore a drab olive colored coat that just went below the waist. He was armed with a blue steel revolver.
