Calvin Robinson shot while trying to stop teen's mugging

DETROIT – The reward to find who shot a man when he stepped in to stop the mugging of a 16-year-old girl in Detroit has been increased to $10,000.

Calvin Robinson was shot in the head last August when he confronted a group who, police said, was robbing the teen outside the Renaissance Center at the southwest corner of Jefferson and Beaubien.

While he was chasing the group, someone opened fire on him.

He was hospitalized for months until his family made the decision to take him off life support so he could pass peacefully.

Police have released this surveillance picture of a group of people who may be witnesses or were directly involved in the incident.

Three of the group's most noticeable members are:

  • A black male wearing a red shirt, dark pants and red shoes. He was carrying what appeared to be a long blue light saber or glow stick that blinks.
  • A black male wearing a white t-shirt, white hat and tan pants.
  • A black male with no shirt and blue jeans.
